how should i respond to compliments and praises?

Who doesn’t like to be complimented and praised!!! We all do, and we feel so happy and proud when someone praises us. We love to hear nice words said to us. Yet sometimes if we were to receive a medal or a prize for an achievement, we would have mixed emotions as we go up to receive our award in front of a cheering crowd. We may have feelings of joy and pride, but also we will have nervousness, or even embarrassment.   There is nothing wrong with accepting a person’s kind words and feeling happy about it, and it is very important and polite to thank someone who pays you a compliment. However we should use the opportunity to give God the glory by thanking Him whether openly or in private. But how do we respond to the praise and compliments is what matters most. Do we respond by pride and getting arrogant or do we respond by humbleness and modesty?? Like David who when he was praised he did not stop leading his men to victory, neither did he play down his abilities. He did, however, acknowledge that God had helped him and he gave all glory to God. In contrast, the New Testament tells of a king who loved the praises of men. When they called him a god, he just loved it and took all the glory and didn’t give glory to God! Well, you can read what happened to him Acts 12: 21-23.   Each time you receive a compliment, accept it, enjoy it, thank the one who gave it to you, and remember to give glory to God.   The Bible says: “Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ…” 2 Corinthians 9:13
More Devotions
We are born with the nature to trust others because that is the way God has made us.
Once, when the disciples returned after a long day of fishing and after they had lunch with the Lord, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, do you truly love Me more than these here?”
How would you feel if someone lied at you, then said sorry, and then lied again and again!
